Frequently asked questions.
where do you ship?
Rebel Gemcraft is proud to serve our UK customers exclusively. This commitment ensures that all our gemstones are produced and shipped right here in the UK, fostering a direct connection between our craftsmanship and your collection. Currently, due to the complexities of legal regulations surrounding shipments to the EU, we only ship within the UK. Should there be any changes in the future, I will be sure to keep you updated. Thank you for understanding!
do you cut all of the gemstones?
Yes, I hand-cut every stone myself. This careful process highlights each gemstone's special traits and natural beauty. With a focus on quality and a love for design, I enhance each piece, turning rough stones into beautiful art. I use a Sterling Handpiece Faceting Machine from Sri Lanka. If you would like to watch me work, check out my instagram.
can i request a design?
Absolutely! Commissioning a stone is free of charge. Feel free to drop me a message with your ideas—whether it’s the shape, color, size, material, or any kind of inspiration you have in mind. I’ll cut the stone just for you and give you the first opportunity to purchase it. If it’s not quite what you wanted, no worries! I’ll simply list it on the website for others to admire and potentially buy.
can i see the stones in person before i buy?
I prioritise the security of my workspace, which is why I do not allow customers into my studio. However, I’m more than willing to arrange a meeting. Based in London, I often travel across the UK for various projects. Send me a message and we can discuss.
do you provide certification?
Each gemstone is accompanied by a Report and Certificate - I am a registered gemmologist and ensure every gemstone provided is exactly as stated. I use a range of gemmological instruments to test every stone. The report lists the details of the stone, including species/variety, size, carat weight, and origin if known.
where do you source your rough material?
I work with a very select group of dealers that prioritse fair and ethical mining. However, most of the stones I work with are preloved - taken from jewellery and discarded for being cracked, chipped, and damaged, I pride myself on limiting the need for mining by giving new life to stones that are already in circulation. I also work with a lot of scientific scrap - many people are aware of synthetic diamonds, but did you know that many gemstones are synthesised? Not for use in jewellery, but for use in scientific machinery, tools and lasers. These enormous slabs of material do not always come out perfect and are discarded… until I buy them and cut them. Some of these gemstones have amazing UV properties!
if i use one of your stones in a piece of retail jewellery, do you require a credit?
No. You do not need to credit Rebel Gemcraft. Please just enjoy the stones. If you have any questions about the durability of the stone, whether it can be fired in place, or any care instructions you need to pass on to your customers, please reach out. If you would like to mention Rebel Gemcraft, please do!
can i ask you for advice on gemstones?
Please do! I can talk about them for days. Drop me an email or a message anytime. And yes it’s free. Please note, I cannot identify a stone / tell you if your diamond is real from a picture. All gemstones need to be subjected to testing to determine their identity.
